I woke up Sunday February 13th, and realized I did not have a valentines box for school!
Oh, no! What to do?
So first I need a box, and inspiration which happened to be my flower clips I made recently. Since I only had pink paper I decided to jazz things up a bit with some iridescent paints, and tracing paper. Now all I needed to do was paint, add, and mix the colors.
I used iridescent acrylic paint because it is shiny, bright and dries quickly, unlike watercolor paint that is dull, and makes the paper wrinkly and soggy. I decided I wanted my papers colors to be based on the sunsets, and sunrises that my mom painted as a young girl.
Here is one of the sunsets that inspired my colors for the project.
My gorgeous colored paper.
What is a valentines box with out some bling? Mine has quite a lot and Hobby Lobby is just the place to get them. I used acrylic gems but you can use things like glass beads, or anything fancy to spice your box up!
I wanted my gems to look nice, not scattered all over the place. I wanted a star shape at the corners and patterns around the sides. At last I made a lock so people don't get in to the box. I glued diamond shaped gems together. Then I glued one side of tape to the gems and glue gems on box then tape the sticky side of the tape to the box and bravo its a master piece!
I decided that a scrappy art pin pattern in a my new sewing book that I got for Christmas was the perfect shape and size for my flattering flowers.
Now its time to cut and glue the flowers. Trace the flower pattern on the back of the paper and cut them out . Glue the pieces together with hot glue then glue onto the box and add the gem in the center. I started at one corner then slowly did the whole thing.
It turned out wonder full I am very satisfied!
Hope you all had a happy valentines day!
